GY-AS3935 MA5532 Lighting Sensor Thunder Storm Distance Detector Module SPI I2C Breakout Board
Description:
Based on the AMS reference design, this is the AS3935 digital sensor breakout board.
This innovative sensor features a specially tuned antenna, SPI or I2C interface, designed to interface with most current development systems and boards.
The splitter uses an inductor (antenna) designed specifically for this application, and the board is fully calibrated.
This ensures that you can support low-level IC calibration without having to write a large back-end – focus on your end application!
Features:
Detects cloud-to-cloud and cloud-to-cloud flashes
The estimated strike is between 14 and 40 kilometers
Embedded “artificial” interference suppression algorithm
Thunder and detection threshold is programmable (such as outdoor to indoor)
Wide supply voltage range: 2.4V – 5.5V
SPI and I2C operations are supported by default, I2C Address 0x03
Split board ship fully calibrated
Application:
Weather station
Sports electronic equipment
Phone
smart watch
Golf equipment
Package Includes:
1 x AS3935 Lighting sensor
Connection
* Arduino Uno Arduino Mega –> SEN-39001: AS3935 Breakout
* SDA: SDA SDA –> MOSI/SDA (SDA is labeled on the bottom of the Arduino)
* SCLK: SCL SCL –> SCK/SCL (SCL is labeled on the bottom of the Arduino)
* SI: pin 9 pin 9 –> SI (select interface; GND=SPI, VDD=I2C
* IRQ: pin 2 pin 2 –> IRQ
* GND: GND –> CS (pull CS to ground even though it’s not used)
* GND: GND –> GND
* 5V: 5V –> Arduino I/O is at 5V, so power board from 5V. Can use 3.3V with Due, etc
FAQ
Q: Can you suggest me which lcd display is better for it and can use with it
A: This sensor cannot drive an LCD display on it own
It will need a microcontroller, like ESP8266/ESP32 or Arduino Pro Mini / Pro Micro 3.3V
The Microcontroller will control the sensor and control the display as well
About display you can use OLED

FAQ
Q: Do I need other parts to detect lightning?
A: You need develop board to connect with this sensor, such as arduino uno r3, arduino 2560 r3 , then upload code to the board. You can check this link //github.com/raivisr/AS3935-Arduino-Library and check some video on youtube
Q: On the back, there are jumpers with arrows from miso and cs. what are these? do they need to be closed to use spi?
A: If you want to use SPI interface, you need connect IRQ and SI, please check this picture //s5.ecpperp.com/flyfun/data/upload/product_img/200722/SPI.jpg
